Detoxifying Health Foods

Many dieticians and health food promoters recommend an occasional regimen of detoxifying health foods to cleanse your system.  Detoxifying is an excellent way to begin a lifestyle change to healthier eating because it cleans sugars and toxins from sugar fermentation from the body.  It is said that carbohydrate addicts often feel miraculously better after a 48 hour detoxifying health food regimen.

There are several detoxifying health foods regimens.  The most rigorous is a water fast.  That means drinking only water for however long the fast is.  Most people can tolerate a two or three day detoxifying water fast. Slightly less rigorous than a water fast is a detoxifying juice fast.  Here, you can still drink water, but you can also drink juice.  Freshly made fruit or vegetable juice from organically grown produce is the best.  Once again, most people can tolerate a two or three day juice fast, and some people will fast for several days to cleanse their systems.

A third detoxifying health foods regimen is to eat only raw vegetable foods.  This regimen can safely and healthily be maintained for months.  Not only will it detoxify the colon, but it also helps heart health, lowers cholesterol and normalizes the blood sugar.  Raw vegetarian diets provide lots of fiber along with necessary vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. 

If you are a carbohydrate addict, and you want to change your lifestyle, the quickest and easiest way to do it is to use a detoxifying health food regimen as a transition.  Otherwise, when you stop eating the sugars and fats in a high carbohydrate diet, you will probably experience overwhelming fatigue.  When you experience the fatigue, it causes you to crave carbohydrates, and pretty soon you are right back where you began.

If you detoxify first, however, the fatigue is less and rarely persists after the first day or so.  In fact, many people who use a detoxifying juice fast say that after the first 48 hours they feel more energetic than they have in years.

A detoxifying health foods regimen can help you break a carbohydrate addiction and make healthy lifestyle changes.  You can detoxify every so often, or you can adopt a whole raw food diet that keeps you detoxified.  In either case, a detoxifying health food regimen will leave your feeling healthier and more energetic.
