Experts Say About Organic Farming
With the hoopla about organic foods and organic farming, who
really knows anymore which one is
better?
You can read articles and
books and scour the internet searching for information until
you are blue in the face, and never find a defiant answer
either way. So, to help you in your quest for answers
about what experts say about organic farming, here are a few
expert opinions:Some experts for organic farming say that there
are several perks to organic food. The main one being
that organically grown produce does not contain the chemicals
and pesticides that processed foods
do.
For those of you who are concerned
about these chemicals and what they can do to you, they can
cause cancer of all sorts, infections, nervous system problems,
and even promote diabetes. These experts also say that organic
foods just taste better, since there are no
preservatives. Also, they say that organic foods help the
environment since they do not have these chemicals on them
either, so there is no runoff to pollute rivers, water tables,
or other land.
You’ve heard the pluses, so here are
the minuses:
Other experts argue that organic farming depletes the earth
of nutrients and, while they agree that there is no
contamination due to the chemicals, they also site that without
the pesticides and preservatives, most of the organic crops
will either be destroyed or they will not be edible.
Therefore, this method of farming cannot help hunger in any
country. These experts also say that without these
chemicals to drive away pests and other nasty things, you run a
higher risk of bacterial infections, e coli (and other yucky
illnesses), and other problems that come along with eating
unprotected foods.
Of course, these are just some of the arguments that experts
are having over organic foods. But, no matter what experts say
about organic farming, it is still a matter of opinion for
consumers to sort out and choose which side they are on when it
comes to their foods.
