Information on Compost Bins and Organic Gardening

After hearing all the hoopla about organic foods, compost bins, and organic gardening, how do you even begin to sort it all out?   Here is some basic information on compost bins and organic gardening to help you out.

Compost Bins
Almost everyone has heard of compost bins and pretty much knows how they work.  Basically, you put tree trimmings, grass clippings, food, ect, and place them all in a pile in a (usually) wooden box and allowing it to rot.  Once it has rotted and been mixed together, it makes a wonderful fertilizer for foods and gardens.  You can use this mixture in place of store bought fertilizer, which not only will save you some money, but will be just as good, if not better for your plants and organic foods.

Organic Gardening
Most people who like to garden have entertained the thought or already grow their own foods.  Organic gardening helps them to save money on food costs, while also eating a healthier diet.  As well as these high points, organic grown foods have other perks to them.  Most processed foods that you buy at the supermarket have lots of chemicals added to them.  Pesticides, genetic alterations, preservatives, and other chemicals are added to foods when they are processed to help them have a longer shelf life or keep fungus or bugs away from the foods while they are being grown.

Both compost bins and organic farming do take work to keep them going, but both are also worth it in the long run.  Hopefully this information on compost bins and organic gardening will help you to check into these topics more and use each to your advantage to eat a healthier diet and do your part for the environment.  There is tons of information on both subjects on the internet, and you can find books on both at any local bookstore.
