Organic vs. GE Foods
Most people are not aware yet that there are scientists who
are hard at work creating genetically engineered foods that can
help fight everything from common colds to cancer.
If you are aware of GE
(genetically engineered) foods, do you know if everything that
you are eating is organic or not? How do you know which
is safer, organic vs. GE foods?
Well, if you are like most people, you do not know the
difference at all. A vast majority of people would be
shocked to learn that over 60% of the foods on the market today
have in some way been genetically engineered, either for better
quality or to add in some nutrient to make them healthier.
Now, sure a GE food can be so much better
than an organic food. If you have a scientist who can
help you fight the flu with a new kind of apple, wouldn’t you
buy it? If you have a scientist who can help you fight
cancer with a new kind of banana, wouldn’t you buy it? Of
course you would. So, where is the fight in the organic
vs. GE foods?
Well, organic foods are all natural. This means, no
tampering, no pesticides, no preservatives, no nothing but dirt
and food. Organic foods are also grown under more strict
regulations than other foods since there are no additives that
go into them. So, you can be assured that they are
healthy for you.
As for GE foods, you cannot really be sure if they aren’t
taking out some essential nutrient or vitamin to add in that
dose of cancer fighting genes. What if the gene that they
are taking out, is the very gene that really helps you?
Or, the scientist might have to introduce a small amount of
bacterium into the food to help fight that flu bug that you
have been battling. But, what if that bacterium goes wild
and makes you sicker than you were? You just don’t
know.
There has not been a lot of research that has
been released publicly on organic vs. GE foods for the average
person to know about. So, if you are concerned about GE
foods, check around to see what you can find out about the
foods that you and your family are eating.
