What's Wrong With Organic Farming And Organic
Foods
When most consumers see the organic or all natural labels on
foods, they automatically assume that these foods are safer
than the one sitting right next to it.
But, is there any truth to this?
While some say yes and some say no, there have not been very
many scientific studies into which way is really better. But,
here are a couple expert points on what’s wrong with organic
farming and organic foods for you to make your own
judgment.
While some people claim that organic foods keep pesticides
and other chemicals out of the food itself, and they are
correct, what they don’t realize is that by not allowing the
use of these chemicals, you are setting up the food for
contamination from other areas. Not only can you have
damage to the food from insects, but also from molds, fungi,
bacteria, and other nasty little things that lurk in the
dirt. Without pesticides and the other chemicals that
fight these yuckies off, you are at a higher risk for getting
sick from eating these foods.
Some people
claim that organic foods are better for the environment.
This is true in a way. Again, by not using the pesticides
and chemicals, there is no runoff to pollute water tables and
other land around the crops. But, due to not having these
chemicals used, a majority of the crops are either destroyed or
are unable to be consumed. So, this process does not
solve very many hunger issues in other countries, nor does it
help the prices of them here either. To top it off, there have
not been any nutritional studies that suggest either way which
food, organically grown or processed, is better for your body
and your overall health. So, it is personal opinion and
your point of view that make organic foods a good choice or
bad. So, when anyone asks you what’s wrong with organic
farming and organic foods, you can site a couple of expert
opinions, and then tell them that you really don’t know.
